Wellington, New Zealand is my home. It's a strange and beautiful city at the edge of the world where people shape new ways to do things. Down on the waterfront there's a stone slab with engraved words from the poet Lauris Edmond:

"It's true you can't live here by chance. You have to do and be, not simply watch or even describe. This is the city of action, the world headquarters of the verb -"

I work with people around the world, but Wellington is the heart of my story.

I grew up in South Auckland, New Zealand. I loved the beach, and clearly had a taste for adventure as I would often wander off exploring.

Today my professional focus is governance and strategy, particularly around AI and advanced technology adoption, alongside Storytelling for Leaders workshops with Jo Fitzgerald. I also write nonfiction, culture essays, and the Project Tempest novellas as C J Halbard.

I founded Man on Fire because the things that get me out of bed in the morning are all about restless humans trying to change something for the better. I want to be part of that, over and over again.

My core lived values revolve around the 'team of uniques': I believe in high-performing, high-trust relationships shaped by integrity and first principles thinking. I love forming tight-knit groups who move fast and make good things happen.

I'm a frequent public speaker on everything from navigating difficult projects to the evolution of technology, public services and interactive entertainment. Please do get in touch if you're interested in hosting me for a talk.
